Last October 30, Stockbridge American International School hosted a trick or treat like no other.
Anyone can be a superhero. Aside from the traditional activity of receiving treats, the Stockbridge partners gamely participated and accommodated the students as they introduce their role in the community. The community trip sparks interest in a variety of fields of work, which may lead to students getting interested in a field that may one day become their life's work. The students explored the work people do and their importance in the community. The students met with everyday superheroes from the hospitality, culinary, business processing, government; bank, retail, automotive, health and wellness and entertainment industry. The following establishments are the Stockbridge partners who took part in the trick or treat for a cause:  Marco Polo Hotel, Seda Hotel, Six Eleven Global Teleservices, IChef Culinary School, Rekado Filipino Comfort Cuisine Restaurant, Davao City Public Library, Saging Republik, K1 Family KTV and Spa, Nest Baby Products, Chembond Industrial Supply, Conching Restaurant, TireSmart Car Service Shop, Pinktouche Events, Pipanya Breadery, Cucina Ilocana, L’ Atelier De Ross Sevilla, Peppers Iberica Resto.
We too can be a superhero. The Stockbridge trick or treat cause is for the benefit of United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF. Not only did the students collect treats for themselves. But they also collected for UNICEF. UNICEF is an agency of the United Nations devoted to serving the world's children. This made them a superhero by helping other kid’s lives for the better. Their support will help UNICEF children obtain the quality education, health care, and protection they need and deserve to develop to their full potential. Together, we are the Stockbridge superheroes.
Part of the education in Stockbridge is experiential learning. Through experience, the students discover, learn and understand more about the community and their world through actual hands on experience. This month’s community helpers theme engages students in recognizing people and organization that helps our community. In the same way, how they too can help support others in need.
“More than the funds raised, the project teaches the students to help other children in need and become responsible global citizens in the future. After all, we are the Stockbridge Superheroes!” exclaimed Ms. Careen L. Hao Bian, VP for Operations.
